Marinel Jacobs

Marinel is a native of Cape Town, South Africa and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy Cum Laude from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. She later obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. She has more than 11 years of experience with inpatient and outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation and sports physical therapy, working in the United States, South Africa, and Namibia – where she worked with the national rugby team. She also worked in skilled nursing care where she gained experience with geriatrics. Over the years she has developed a special interest in neck and back spinal care and post surgical rehabilitation.

Marinel is trained in the Maitland concept which was pioneered in the 1950’s by the legendary Australian Physiotherapist Geoffrey Maitland and received her Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (or COMT) certification through Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars (MAPS). The Maitland Approach is considered one of the cornerstones of modern day Orthopedic Manual Therapy for treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

If not at the office, Marinel stays busy with DIY projects with her husband and taking care of their 2 teenage children. She enjoys the outdoors by walking, running, and gardening.
