Patty Mitchell, LPTA, CLT is a native of Northern Virginia and has been practicing physical therapy for 30 years. After getting her degree from Northern Virginia Community College, she has practiced in various physical therapy settings but the majority of her career has been in outpatient orthopedics. Patty appreciates PT Your Way’s philosophy of the importance of hour long, one–on-one appointment time slots. This allows quality time to focus on the patient’s goals and individual impairments, which greatly enhances the ability to return to or surpass their previous level of functional activity.
Patty assisted with the development of BIM’s Balance and Fall Prevention program in 2010 and is also the company’s HIPAA compliance officer.
Patty is passionate about helping breast cancer patients and survivors. She is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), completing the 135 hour program at The Academy of Lymphatic Studies. This course meets the standards set by Lymphology Association of North America (LANA). With this certification, she is able to perform advanced Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), compression bandaging and the measuring and fitting of compression garments.
