Katy Lyon, PT, DPT earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Marymount University and has her Bachelor’s degrees in both Biology and Studio Art. After practicing physical therapy in a sports medicine setting for 5 years, she moved to West Africa. Recognizing the extreme need for local physical therapy services for children with disabilities in Sierra Leone, Katy then transitioned to volunteer work in home health pediatrics, which led to implementing the first rehabilitation department for the local Ola During Children’s Hospital.
Katy joined with Back in Motion because of their commitment to excellent patient care through full hour treatment sessions. Katy treats all ages and her continuing education coursework has included Jones Institute Strain and Counterstrain, Postural Restoration Institute (Myokinematic Restoration, Postural Respiration, and Pelvic Restoration), Total Motion Release, Upledger Institute, Barral Institute, Integrative Manual Therapy, Maitland Spinal and Peripheral, and University of St. Augustine courses by S. Paris.
Katy enjoys spending time with her husband John and their two little boys. She likes hiking, basketball, painting/drawing, traveling, and learning new things.
